FAQ about Efficiency/Performance

What about durability?

At the Japan Paint Inspection and Testing Association, General Incorporated Foundation, we have received the result report that our product will last over 5 years. Of course durability is changeable how the car has been kept during the 5 years. Rather than keeping the car outside without a roof, by keeping the car in a garage with a roof, the glass film (body) has far less damage. Rather than washing the car once a month, by washing the car once a week, we can keep the film from deterioration much more effectively.
Also, hood, ceiling, trunk tend to gather tiny dust and specks, sometimes droppings of animals and sap may pile, and they are likely to be affected by the solar heat and ultra-violet rays. Therefore, compared with the sides of the car body, deterioration of glass film takes place faster there.
It is possible to enhance durability by trying 2 coatings, 3 coatings, for these three parts. (Of course, with just 1 coating you have no problem.) The important thing is to avoid baking evaporation and oxidation resonance which make deterioration faster.

Is it water repellent or hydrophilic?

Glass coating is largely divided into water-repellent and hydrophilic products. Our glass coating product is water-repellent.
We combine siloxane bond of inorganic matter and organic groups which excels in water and oil repellency. This makes it easy to get rid of sticky water scale and the oil dirt which are hard to come off.

What about water spots?

The cause of the water spots is their rapid baking evaporation on the car body by solar heat and oxidation resonance takes place by repeating this process. It is often said that hydrophilic coating avoids water spots but this is not true. There will be water spots as long as baking evaporation and oxidation resonance occur, although there are slight differences according to the kinds of products. Based on this situation, after a large number of experiments, we have developed glass coating that can greatly avoid water spots. However, we cannot say that our product can do it 100 %, therefore we ask people not to wash the car under the strong sunlight or to leave the car without wiping off water, as much as possible. Particularly tap water and well water deteriorate the car body due to the elements contained in the water such as potassium, calcium, and chlorine.

What about the hardness?

The hardness of the glass coating is often described by using the hardness of pencils like F, H, 3H. The glass coating is the one that is reported over 6H by the Japan Paint Inspection and Testing Association. This is the highest quality or value in the Japan Paint Inspection and Testing Association. There is a pencil that emphasizes the hardness of 9H, but for thin glass film which is 0.1µm~0.5µm thick, the hardness is not so important. For example, we cannot cut the steel that is 1 cm thick by man’s hand, but we can easily cut the steel that is just 0.1µm. Therefore, the hardness of 9H does not mean anything important. It is possible to say that 9H is the hardest quality value and excels in durability, but if it is 0.1µm, it is easy to crack and is not so good in durability. By creating over a certain level of hardness and a certain level of elasticity, our product has improved its durability.

What about car wash?

We can get rid of the stain that is seen apparently by washing the car with water. But we cannot remove tiny dust and specks by washing only with water, so it is better to use shampoo for your usual car wash.

FAQ about the Application of our Product

Can’t wipe off? Unevenness appears?

The cause may be either you haven’t wipe off the coating liquid or coating itself is hardened. If it is immediately after applying the coating liquid, wipe it off and then wipe again with dry cloth. If you still cannot get rid of unevenness, polish the body using compound (water-based compound is recommended). Wiping residue of coating liquid will be easily resolved if you do this. However, after applying coating liquid, if you forget to wipe it off because of your serving customers or handling phone calls, it gets already hardened as thick glass film. You have to do sheet metal processing in some cases. Therefore, the procedure of wiping off is important. On the other hand, the glass coating that can be wiped off easily after a long time, it is the product that does not harden completely.

How long does it take until we wipe off?

In order to avoid making unevenness, wipe off the coating liquid immediately after applying it, until you get used to the job. (See the application manual) When you have become used to it, wipe it off in 1 or 2 minutes after application. The longer the time passes, the thicker the glass film gets and the better the durability becomes.
As an indication, 8 minutes for 10 ℃ (temperature), 4 minutes for 20℃, 2minutes for 30℃. This is just a rough indication. The speed of hardening depends on the temperature of the body and humidity of the day. Therefore, find your best timing after repeating the application procedure while measuring.

How long does it take until hardening?

Under the condition of 25℃ it takes about 2 days to harden to the level of 4H. After that, this process takes about 5 days to harden completely. During this time, keep the car in the place with a roof so it the car will not get wet due to the rain. Other than this, it is possible to make the hardening process fast using various heaters.
When you apply 2 coatings, the second coating should be applied in one day under the condition of 20-25℃, or in 4-5 hours under the condition of 60℃.

Can we apply wax onto glass coating?

Basically we cannot. Strictly speaking, we make another layer of oil film by wax, it is not that you must not apply it but if you do it, glass coating loses its meaning.

Can we apply the product to car wheels, glass, plastic parts, or a boat?

It is possible to apply our product to wheels, but it has less durability compared with application to the car body because they have more heat during driving. We recommend that you use glass coating exclusively for wheels. It is possible to apply it to the glass but it is to put glass coating onto glass. We recommend that you use water repellent coating exclusively for the glass. As for plastic parts, there is no problem. Different from cars, boats always float on the water, we recommend that you protect them with thick glass film, used exclusively for boats. We have some of these products. So please ask for information about them.

FAQ about Maintenance

How often should we perform maintenance?

Though it depends on how you keep your car, but basically it is recommended that you perform maintenance about once in 6 months. Our maintenance coating can reduce more than 90 % of water spots.
